Really enjoyed this - the first I've read from Hilary Mantel, and will definitely read more. Possibly the only ghost story I've read where the scares come from "real" life. I found this like a grown up Good Omens.

And the detail on the orbital towns is spot on. I have also often considered the best places to commit suicide while in Woking.
