Clockwork Prince by Cassandra Clare

5.0

This is how I want every sequel to be written. It continues the story from the first book at the right pace, and goes deeper into character development and relationships. Newer characters being introduced didn’t deter the book from being too long or droning on. I felt that there was enough struggles for each character to get through but also enough development within the story itself.

We see further into who everyone is and how they are. I absolutely loved the dynamics between characters! Tessa and Will stole my geart at every scene! Jem and Tessa are forever the soft couple who want the best for each other. There’s no animosity that usually occurs when there’s a love triangle, however this is one of the few exceptions where the triangle makes sense. And is executed beautifully. Will and Magnus are my new best friends.

I absolutely love Magnus, he’s my favorite character throughout the Shadowhunter world and I love how inconspicuously he integrates himself into this story. Sophie, Gideon and Jess are true winners in this book. Being side characters would have made them overlooked or underdeveloped however Cassandra does a good job on giving them their own voice.

I love the sibling relationship between Tessa and Nate, it often felt real and overwhelming, which is mostly how every sibling relationship is. I loved how complex Nate is with layers of hidden personality. However my new favorite character this book would be Henry. I have a real soft spot for brown-eyed wild-hair nerd boys ♥️ Henry and Sophie are my OTP and if anyone says otherwise will be portaled into the abyss.

The ending is beautiful. Its sad, poignant and sets the atmosphere for the finale. Will and his story broke my heart
