The second book is just as good: puzzles and codes, mystery and murder. I really enjoyed the addition of Sally. I cried over the last message of Master Benedict to Christopher *sob* and loved all the journal entries & how well he knew his apprentice. Dr. Parret (sp? I listened to the audiobook so I'm not sure on spellings) is heartbreakingly wonderful. What stunning and rich characterizations in a middle grade novel! All the heart eyes.

I listened to the audiobook and the narrator, Ray Panthaki is absolutely fantastic.
