I haven't read any mystery book like this before. This is my 2nd time reading Detective Kaga's adventures and the more I read about him, the more I respect him. I worship him. I want to make him my mentor. The amount of observation this man does, the little details he notices and goes to the depths to is amazing!!!! Each and every actions and questions of his, no matter how bizarre they are, have deep meaning behind them. They way he dress, the foods he bring to question witnesses, the minutest misplacement of facts - everything matters to him. He questions everything and that's what makes him a great detective and that is evident in this story.

This mystery story is a bit different though. Though one murder Higashino threw light on the relationships of lots of people and the nuances of different families. He showed us love can be of different forms and that even families sometimes forget to know what holds importance to them at the moment may soon be lost with time. He shows us that communication and honesty goes a long way with families. That a detective's work doesn't just end with solving murders but also with mending human relationships. This book ends up tugging some strings deep within the heart.

P.S. Till the end I got fooled by Higashino. He has a way of writing that will make you hate some characters only to know that they have a story to tell that lies in a grey area.
