When Katie Met Cassidy by Camille Perri

Did not finish book.
I was so excited when I won the Goodreads Giveaway for this book. However, I only got through 50 pages before I had to stop reading. It is BAD. Honestly, someone could make a drinking game out of the amount of lesbian stereotypes between the two main characters and their friends. This was a classic bad stereotype of "straight girl is dumped by fiancée and meets masculine, butch lawyer lesbian who is uncharacteristically enamored by straight girl and eventually 'turns' straight girl gay." Even worse, when the straight character, Katie, goes out for a drink with Cassidy, there is a terrible inner dialogue of how Katie dissects the bar and its lesbian patrons. The author writes Katie as though she has never NEVER seen a lesbian before (because all lesbians *look* like lesbians? what?). Moreover, the writing style resembles a bad erotica novel but without the sex. I could go on, but it's honestly not worth my time. The story does a poor job of portraying queer characters realistically. Overall, especially as a queer woman, I am beyond disappointed and will certainly not be recommending this book to other readers.
