As I made my way through the Alanna series again in adulthood, I remembered much of it, except for this book. While the third book isn’t my favourite, the fourth steps it up in a big way. I love the time Alanna spends on her own and on a hero’s quest, as well as how she finds her place in the world. Such a well done conclusion to the story, balancing both the joys and the grief.
