Thor, Volume 1: The Goddess of Thunder by Jason Aaron

5.0

"If she be worthy..."

When Marvel announced a woman would be picking up Mjolnir due to Thor Odinson being unworthy (again), fandom went ballistic. Charges of pandering were rife and wails that the character was being ruined just for a gimmick.

No, she's very worthy. Jason Aaron and Russell Dauterman give us a grand tale that not only keeps us in suspense as to who now wields the hammer, but how Odinson is dealing with this situation (not as well as one might hope). Throw in Roxxon, political intrigue on Asgard, Jane Foster's fight with breast cancer and a plot to resurrect the Frost Giant Laufey (yes, Loki's father) and there's plenty to entertain -- and make you reach for the next volume, no matter how late it is.
