Reading it again after 10 years, My 2024 review (3.75):
I liked the same things I liked the first time around: the book was easy to read, gripping, the love story had a purpose and something to say, the horror movie ending was a nice touch, and I liked the sources the authors provided were a plus.
What I didn’t like:
- The book was very informative, but it relayed the information in an info-dumpy way. I felt like the author wanted to add all the information he collected, but did so in a way that kept interrupting the flow of the story. It’s as if he wanted to write a non-fiction book, but was restricted by the novel.
- The MC sounded infuriating to me. Arrogant, ignorant, and insufferable. He felt like his character was just a tool to explain certain things, but as an character he wasn’t believable.
