Author: SJ Sylvis
Couple: Ford & Taytum
Tropes: hockey romance, college romance, frenemies to lovers, brotherβs best friend x best friendβs little sister, forced proximity, FMC with chronic disease, secret relationship, forbidden romance
Review: Puck Block took my breath away! SJ Sylvis packed a punch in this final book within the Bexley U hockey series and I could not be more pleased with how it ended! Taytum and Ford were the epitome of the forbidden romance and secret relationships! The way they push and pulled against each other made me salivate for the tension SJ brought to their story!
Taytum was the character I was drawn to the most in this book since her story is filled with real world problems and coping with a chronic disease. SJ did a PHENOMENAL job with creating her story and struggle with type 1 diabetes, especially her reluctance to accept her diagnosis The way she grew in this book made my heart hurt for her and fall in love with Ford that much more since he was always there to save her. The one thing that I disliked was that she was so headstrong that her health suffered but SJ toed that line in a way that prevented me from actually hating her.
Ford was perhaps one of my favorite MMCs in this series. I loved how he succumbed to the pull he had towards Taytum. The way he had always pined for her tugged at my heart since he was in so much worry and pain while she learned to cope with her diagnosis. I also thought SJ perfected the best friendβs little sister trope in this book! The way Ford held strong until pushed to his limits just showed how much he loved her, even when she tried to push him away.
Ford and Taytum were the most angst filled of the three couple in Bexley U and the βteach meβ dynamic just added to it. I enjoyed how Taytum knew how to push all his buttons and never let him get away with his cocky attitude but also couldnβt stay away. I also loved how Ford was there to offer her support and encourage her to accept the new reality she lived in. The only thing I wanted was more conflict with Emery and just more of him period! I cannot wait for his book that SJ announced is coming soon!
Rating: 100+, a pulse pounding and angst filled brotherβs best friend romance that left me wanting more!
Thank you to SJ for sending me this ARC!
