This final instalment in the Faithful and the Fallen series delivers on just about every front, being a high-octane roller coaster ride from the first page on.
It is an emotionally brutal read with character deaths coming at a savage pace, some are horrific, some are unexpected, some quietly satisfying, while others just leave you numb with shock.
In other words, a great conclusion to the series which manages to tie all the various plot threads up nicely but without having to bend logic to suit a particular narrative.
