The second book of this trilogy kept my interest more than the first, but it also increased my aggravation with some of the same issues I had with the first installment. Matthew got on my last nerve with his overprotective nature, particularly in the first quarter of the book, when it was combined with nonstop lying and secrets. At this point in their relationship, Diana deserves better and I wish her character would’ve handled that situation in a more empowering manner. I did like a lot of side characters which really helped keep me interested in the story, but the plot itself still feels too unnecessarily complicated. I am liking the series, I’m just not loving it. I’m not sure how things are going to finish up, but I’m excited to be back in modern times and hopeful it can end on a high note.
