Tolkien is a master of world building (although, I know his wordy detailed explanations are not for everyone. If he can take 8 pages to describe something, rather than a paragraph. He’ll jump at the opportunity).
Return of the King is Tolkien’s masterpiece. Years and years of background written for this epic conclusion to a story, quite literally, a lifetime in the making.
Although we have many, many phenomenal authors available to us now. My honest belief is we will never have one quite like Tolkien. Histories of many races, many languages and many characters all have been created solely for the purpose of telling this story. And this is why I will continue to read this series for the rest of my life and never get bored.
