Beautiful World, Where Are You by Sally Rooney

4.0

I love this book and how the author makes it so full, putting a happy ending to it. Sally Rooney's past 3 books have always made me feel some kind of way even when I would forget most of the book, like I long for more of her writing.

I specifically like this one very much since the character Alice is such an interesting one. Probably my most favourite female character among all the novels I've read so far. I love reading the letters that Alice and Eileen sent to each other, full of great quotes and thoughts worth pondering upon, about world crises and then also more familiar topics. This time the characters' personalities and thoughts are better portrayed, unlike in the past 2 books imo, where the characters seem to be deep but then their thoughts are not elaborated further. I normally don't like male characters in her book, which often appear weak and indecisive, but this time she manages to reveal sides of them that despite their fuckupness, I did actually like them too.
