Third time reading:
Well... I am reading this entire series for the third time, so it's getting more difficult to be objective about my ratings lmao. I really enjoy this series, for all its suboptimal qualities. I'm still down bad for Warner tho. This is definitely the best book in the first trilogy!
Second time reading:
Not a 5/5 star, but still awesome! It's such a quick read, so much is happening and all the characters are finally developing a bit more. I am actual trash for Warner but what else is new.
First time reading:
Rating: 3,5 stars.
This was a lot more fun than the previous two books. Juliette as a character has grown, and it seems that her powers and her control grows with her. I honestly loved seeing her understand her own growth and worth, and not wanting to go back to the scared, traumatized girl who hid from the world. Warner's character growth was very obvious, after book 2 it was so boringly obvious which direction he was heading in. This made it a little less enjoyable for me. I have to admit, I'm on the fence about whether or not to continue with this series. On one side, I know there are better books out there. But on the other side, I know I'll be entertained and the books are likely to be better and better from here.
Oh well, I finished the initial trilogy, it was underwhelming but it did somehow also hook me in. If you're looking for some fast-paced ya with teenage drama and dashes of magical abilities, this is it!
