Oh no, I'm sad! The Tearling series is one of my absolute favorites, and I was excited to read something different from Erika Johansen.
If I loved the first 30% or so, my enjoyment kind of dwindled after the MC enters the Kingdom of Sweets. Everything felt more rushed and less fleshed out. I think I prefer when Erika Johansen writes her own stories instead of retellings. Or maybe I'm simply not a fan of the Nutcracker story.
