The Ten Thousand Doors of January by Alix E. Harrow
5.0
Usually when it comes to "book within a book" stories, I waver, because I'm not sure how the author will execute it. I've had one too many bad experiences where I read a book that contains a book and the book itself is just...not that great. It's a confusing thing to write. But Harrow is why I don't let past bad experiences with concepts, genre, content, etc. sway my decision of what I read (I don't think I'd be a great reviewer OR reader if I let past bad experiences sway my choice of what to read!). I'm so glad I finally read this, because Harrow has written a masterpiece of work. 50 THOUSAND stars to The Ten Thousand Doors of January (I know, I know...not possible. If I could, I would.)
