I've decided it isn't worth the time to receive and read a "free" Amazon Prime ebook every month. They are just so rarely worth reading. Maybe I'm just not very good at choosing which ones to receive, but I've struck out every single time, so no more.
This first mystery novel was obviously a first novel. The author was trying a little too hard to layer in aspects of her key detective that would be used as recurring elements in future episodes, if sales indicated more should follow. The elements were slabbered on a bit thickly, culminating in an inherited disease for the protagonist. Let's not explore the houseboat in London or the quirky mom. Nope.
