4.5 stars!
This was a very well written romance and coming to age story for young lesbians. This book made me feel so seen and I really loved reading Lily realising who she was.
I really enjoyed this book and learnt so much about Chinese and American history in the 1950’s.
There are some definite things I didn’t enjoy, I didn’t think that the use of the N-word in the book, though historically accurate, was not necessary at all. Whilst I enjoyed the flashbacks to Lily’s parents, I also would get annoyed when they would come in between chapters where there were cliffhangers.
Overall I really loved the book. I thought the romance, the plot-line, the writing and the character arc was amazing! I would definitely recommend.
