The Printed Letter Bookshop by Katherine Reay
3.0
This seemed to me like it would be a book about books. I found it more along the lines of a book about people who worked in a bookshop, and I was a little disappointed. I wanted to know more about each person's list of books and what it meant to them. Their lists were supposedly so meaningful, but only vaguely referred to, as in "it reminded me of a book on my list," or "that line came directly from the third book on my list."
There are three characters who tell this story: Maddie, Claire, and Janet. Listening to the audio, I found it difficult to keep track of whose point of view I was listening to. There was an announcement with each change of perspective, but their individual voices did not stand out to me, either in the sound of the narrator, or the tone of the writing.
I did finish the book, and was much more invested in the last quarter than the any other part, but I wish it had offered more.
