My Soul to Take by Yrsa Sigurðardóttir
4.0
Thóra Gudmundsdóttir is back! As are her German lover, incompetent secretary, and kids-who this time actually run away their father. The book begins with a harrowing flashback before moving on to the present day.
Thóra has been hired by an eccentric hotelier who wants to sue the people who sold him the property upon which the hotel is built on. The reason? The hotel's grounds are haunted. While Thóra doesn't believe there is merit to his claim, she goes over to investigate and wouldn't you know it? Someone is murdered on the premises. (Later on, someone else is murdered.)
A cast of suspicious characters, both hotel employees, and people from neighboring properties all seem to be hiding something, but who, if any of them, is responsible for the murders?
