My Paris Dream: An Education in Style, Slang, and Seduction in the Great City on the Seine by Kate Betts
4.0
i had a hard time getting into this book at first. but then really enjoyed the story.
set in paris it follows the story of kate betts, a recent college grad from the US trying to make it as a journalist in paris. there were many things in the story that really resonated with my own time in paris and brought back many of the happy feelings and awkward moments that i remember going through myself.
it was also interesting to see betts journey through her post grad life as that is quickly approaching for me, i enjoyed watching her try to make it in my favorite city. as much as i would love to live there, i was able to see just how hard it would be to fit in. aside from the magic of paris, there is also a quality about it which makes it so hard to feel like you fit in. the city that i love so much doesn't now and probably never will reciprocate that love the same way for me. (that sounds more depressing than i intended it to)
