The Song of Achilles by Madeline Miller
5.0
“He is half of my soul, as the poets say.”
It was quite a journey to get through this book but I’m still astonished that I finished reading this book in two weeks (as a slow reader).
Mostly I shed tears towards the end of the story when all the war has been left behind and you got more of the memories of lovers again. Thetis at the very end really evoke emotions in me and maybe she only had a hard time to show emotions. Not just because she is a goddess but maybe because it was simply not easy for her to be this open to anyone, not even her own child.
Despite the gruesomeness of war, most of the time I felt this bitter heartache of forbidden love and wow… It’s beautiful. Enjoy reading everyone but prepare to shed tears.
