Death at Newport by Derryn Hinch
4.0
Newport is home to the rich and for a long time was also home to the America's Cup yacht race. When the race is on the town comes alive and is jammed packed with the rich, the poor, reporters, racers and spectators. It's 1974 and reporter Jonathan Hunter, an Australian, is covering the race and is totally bored as this is not his first race. When he attends a party at the home of worlds richest woman, Penelope Pike, he meets her assistant Dee Dee Marsh and things become less boring.
This is a slow build thriller that sucks you in. You know what is going to happen but you don't know if things will go according to plan.
An enjoyable read even though it is over 30 years old. Sometimes you can't help but picture Derryn Hinch in the role of Jonathan Hunter as he is a former newspaper reporter and later a TV presenter, radio host and politician.
Old but still good.
