“He loves me like a daughter because I'm his everything. His control. His weakness. His life. His love.”
“We are the wildflowers in a field of roses.”

The idea and premise of the book instantly caught my attention. A program named Scarlet, where children are trained, manipulated, and controlled to become assassins, sounded really interesting.

The book follows the FMC, Adeline “Adi,” and her friends six years after they escaped Scarlet. At the beginning of the book, I was a bit confused with all the characters because there were so many. Personally, I would have preferred them to be introduced a bit more in-depth, so it would have been easier for me to understand who they were and what their roles were.

Scarlet as a program sounded really interesting, and I would have loved to learn more about it, how the characters were trained, and what they had to do in Scarlet, etc. There are some flashback scenes with little glimpses of the FMC's life in Scarlet and how she met some of the other characters. I would also love to learn more about their escape from Scarlet.

The flashback scenes helped to bring some depth to the characters, but personally, I would have liked to see more character growth and development.

The pacing was quite slow for the first 100 pages, but after that, there was a lot more happening. There were some big plot twists towards the end that I didn’t see coming.

I liked how most of the story was told from Adi’s perspective. The few chapters from Sebastian’s POV also worked well for the story. Having just one chapter from Amelie’s POV in the middle of the book wasn’t my favorite, and I personally don’t think that it brought that much to the story.

There were multiple interesting side characters, like Amelie, and I would love to learn more about them and their pasts. I liked the relationship between Amelie and Jack, and I think that they were both great friends for Adi.

Overall, an interesting story. I can’t wait to read the next book in the series.
