Revenge of the Sith by Matthew Woodring Stover

emotional tense fast-paced

4.0

I would love to rate this higher, as it is it's just scraping into 4 stars for me. Matthew Stover has so many incredibly good lines in here, and a truly rock solid understanding of what makes the dynamic between Anakin, Obi-Wan, and Palpatine interesting as well as Anakin's inner world, unfortunately he needs to be jailed for his crimes against Padme. The way he wrote her and her relationship with Anakin felt deeply uncomfortable in a rather misogynistic way - she is constantly afraid of his macho physical power, even at the very start of the novel, and has seemingly no life besides being The Wife Of Anakin Skywalker. I think a fair summary is that he goes out of his way to have C3-P0 (a man (derogatory)) influence her decision to go after Anakin...
Honorary 4.5 stars for having Palpatine describe Yoda as a "little green freak"
