Sometimes you try something on and it just doesn’t fit. Or it fits, but you just don’t feel your best in it. That’s Ali Hazelwood in contemporary romance. Because it’s VERY clear she fits better on the paranormal side of things.
📕 𝗕𝗼𝗼𝗸 𝗜𝗻𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗺𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻: Bride by Ali Hazelwood
📙 𝗦𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗲𝘀: Standalone, maybe?
📗 𝗥𝗲𝗮𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗗𝗲𝘁𝗮𝗶𝗹𝘀: E-book on Kindle, loaned from Libby.
📘 𝗚𝗲𝗻𝗿𝗲: Paranormal romance
📔 𝗧𝗿𝗼𝗽𝗲𝘀: Arranged marriage, enemies-to-lovers, fated mates, found family, knots.
📖 𝗦𝘆𝗻𝗼𝗽𝘀𝗶𝘀: Misery has spent her life serving as collateral in the tentative truces between Humans and Vampyres, and she’s now set to marry Lowe, and become the same for the Vampyres and Weres.
🌟 𝗥𝗲𝘃𝗶𝗲𝘄: Man, there’s something about a book that’s written by someone you know loves and respects the genre, because Bride had all of the critical elements to a vampire and werewolf book.
I loved Misery. I loved her character growth, her developing feelings, her loyalty to this pack. And Lowe was the kind of powerful but complicated alpha I love to read about.
I went in with a chip on my shoulder, and had no choice but to rate this a five. It had everything I could want, and the end made me feel all sorts of gitty. It’s a bit like loving a band before they get famous - there’s a whole lot of people coming for more shifter romance now… and no wonder, because if this was their first shifter book they’ve been introduced thoroughly and very well.
🪄 𝗙𝗮𝗻𝘁𝗮𝘀𝘆 𝗘𝗮𝘀𝗲: Easy. It’s simple - vampires and werewolves, with some slight world building nuances but approachable all the same.
𝗥𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴: 5/5 ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
𝗦𝗽𝗶𝗰𝗲 𝗟𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗹: 3/5 🌶🌶🌶
📝 𝗔 𝗾𝘂𝗶𝗰𝗸 𝗻𝗼𝘁𝗲… The end really seemed like we are going to get another book in this universe, and god do I hope so.
𝗥𝗲𝗮𝗱 𝗺𝗼𝗿𝗲 𝗹𝗶𝗸𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗶𝘀: This is SO many people’s first shifter book, and if you loved it, there’s a ton more where that came from. I highly suggest starting with the Phoenix Pack series by Suzanne Wright.
