This going through generations of two sisters. This book is amazing, but some of the timelines are hard to read. I don't know much about Ghana itself, just that it was a big source of slaves during the slave trade. The way the author wrote made me want to research more about the culture, like why yams are so important. I'm from Alabama, hour from Birmingham, and had no idea about the coal industry. It's some of the best historical fiction I've had. It does that job, bringing you there and making you want to learn more when you leave.
I want to read everything by this author. ♥️
The quality of story was strong and consistent in each timeline/person, a lot of authors don't accomplish that.
