She of the Mountains by Vivek Shraya
5.0
This was an incredibly interesting book. It switched between a story of a man who is constantly put in a certain box and how he grows to understand himself, his identity, and his body, and a reimagining of a Hindu myth that also takes a critical look at gender.
I really appreciated how the book took on the issue of bi erasure and how the main character found the language he needed to feel like himself.
It’s a very short book, so I won’t say too much, but I did thoroughly enjoy it.
