We first meet Dani running from her previous life. She’s scared and sees no other option but to disappear. She takes a room with a girl she found on the internet and instantly you can see that the two of them will be friends.

We jump straight into the action with Hero, a former soldier and current VP of Heaven’s Rejects MC. A senior, well loved club member is murdered by a rival gang. Hero regularly uses one of the club ‘girls’ Ruby. It is one of my least favourite things, seeing a future book-boyfriend with someone else, but it’s definitely in keeping with the typical MC member behaviour you see in other books/shows. 

Hero and Dani have a brief encounter at Red’s bar. Hero and his guys realise that Ricca (the roommate) is the girlfriend of the rival MC’s president’s son, so they leave and nothing comes of their encounter but Dani can’t stop thinking about the man she danced with.

Ricca may not be the friend it first seemed. After she does a bunk with her boyfriend’s money, he kidnaps and beats Dani. She escapes before they can get her to the second location but because of her situation ahead can’t go to the police and her things are looking dire for her. 

After witnessing a crime Dani is taken by the Heaven’s Rejects MC. Despite not knowing if she is tied to their rivals, Hero has fallen for her instantly. He’s trying to fight it because his loyalty is to the club he sees as family. 

Despite being a captive Dani seems to be comfortable, if not exactly thriving at the clubhouse. When the Twisted Tribe start war, Dani is caught in the crossfire, beaten and almost raped by the VP.

Out of nowhere after yet another incident, Hero claims Dani. He’s pushy and arrogant about it, asking and not telling her what is happening. It should be a major red flag but honestly it’s hot AF 🥵🥵🥵.

This book is pretty dark and those with triggers should definitely read the warnings first. Poor Ricca. 

I actually love Hero. He’s a big softie at heart and it’s so clear that he is so in love with her. 

Dani’s past finally catches up to her and you realise why she’s been running. 

Ahh! It’s so tense I’m practically covering my eyes to read 🙈🙈🙈

I’m not always huge on MC books, I find them very hit or miss,  but I’ve absolutely loved this one. The plot was great, it was well paced, steamy and I completely fell in love with the characters. I’ll definitely check out more of Avelyn’s books in the future.
