The Night She Disappeared by Lisa Jewell
4.0
19-year-old Tallulah has a baby and is juggling school and motherhood with the help of her mom Kim, whom she lives with. Tallulah decides to get back together with her son's father, Zach, but soon learns that Zach isn't who she wants. Still, she tries to make the best of things for her son's sake.
One night, Tallulah and Zach take a rare evening out to themselves leaving Kim at home with their son. They never come home. Kim doesn't believe her daughter would disappear and leave her son. She's convinced something has happened to them, but the police can't find anything and the trail stops cold at Dark Place, where they were last seen. Within a matter of weeks, the people that Tallulah and Zach were last seen with have left town.
A crime author named Sophie moves into the area and she discovers some clues that suggest something else might have happened to the couple. Soon enough, Kim and Sophie are on the trail again and desperate to find the young parents.
Jewell is a great writer, but I marked this book down because of the dual storylines and jumping around from year to year, but overall, this author always grips my attention until the end.
Thrills and chills! Guess who I'll be reading more of in 2022.
