We Are Totally Normal by Naomi Kanakia
3.0
Overall, this was an easy read/listen to. The main focus seems to be on teen boys wanting to get laid and how they go about it. A lot of the negative reviews are about the “predatory nature” of the male characters and them trying to manipulate young women into sleeping with them. I get that. That was kind of the point of those characters though. They were douchebags and that came across, so the author did his job there. Guys like that actually exist too.
The issues I had was with the main character, Nandan, as he started to really annoy me. He was questioning his sexuality and experimenting a lot but he went back and forth a lot, treated people like shit, and some of the things he went back on himself with didn’t really make sense. I don’t want to spoil anything for anyone but I didn’t really get how the “love story” really ended up how it did as it didn’t make sense to me given his actions and feelings before that point.
