The Guinevere Deception by Kiersten White

5.0

I didn’t know much about the Arthurian (?) times. I knew basics, i knew about Excalibur and the stone and Merlin, I knew who Guinevere was, but not a lot else. (thank you random cartoon i briefly remember). This book took me on a journey. It strayed away from the original story quite a bit, but there are major parallels.

from here on there may be spoilers so read at your own risk.

So, I absolutely LOVED the characters and their growth. I loved Arthur, for a moment hated him, then loved him again.
Guinevere was really interesting, the way she held herself, the way she loved, the way she sacrificed herself. I loved her and how she not exactly but started to overcome her fear of water.
Brangien was precious, a magic lesbian? please and thank you. her loyalty for Guinevere and her constant non judgemental ways for her. I just. Ah.
Lancelot shocked me, I loved her much much more then i would have thought. I loved that they made her a girl, it put a different feel to things.
Mordred, god this man. I had a feeling about him. something was just... off. and then i started thinking maybe it’s all in my head. AND THEN I WAS RIGHT ANYWAY.
I could babble on heaps about the characters but i’ll move on.

The writing itself was fantastic. It kept me interested and i could barely put the book down, which for someone who hasn’t finished a book in like 2-3 months? it’s pretty great. The story grabbed me and left me hanging for more. I honestly can not wait for the next book to come out.
