Maybe Someday by Colleen Hoover
5.0
"For her I bend, for you I break. And if I can’t be yours now. I’ll wait here on this ground. Til you come, til you take me away. Maybe someday" OKAY, this book was fucking amazing. I've never read a book before that involved a deaf character, and I am blown away by how fascinating and captivating and different it was from anything else I've ever read. I mean, shit this book has its own soundtrack! Like a real soundtrack. Reading this book was an experience. The songs are absolutely incredible and it's so cool to get to see the characters go through the process of writing them, and the emotions that encouraged them to write those lyrics. I was listening to the songs as the characters were writing them and it was such an amazing experience. I think "Maybe Someday" is easily my favorite song out of all of them. I've had it on repeat all day, even when I'm not reading.
“Sometimes in life, we need a few bad days in order to keep the good ones in perspective.”
I love Ridge. Like I really really really love Ridge. He has easily become one of my favorite male characters of all time. He's so sweet and caring and genuine and honest. I really liked Sydney for the most part, but there were a few things about her that bothered me. Either way, it didn't make me like the book any less. Sydney was a little too over emotional about some things if you ask me (especially towards the end) but I guess my main problem with Sydney was the fact that when her boyfriend cheats on her with her room mate/best friend, she only gets pissed at her boyfriend. Yes, she punches her best friend in the face in the heat of the moment, but after that she doesn't really talk or think about the complete and total betrayal that it would be is your best friend did that to you. She just blames her boyfriend more than she blames her best friend and it bothered me cause they're both at fault.
“A life of mediocrity is a waste of a life.”
Anyways, I really loved the way Ridge and Sydney's relationship developed. It was really cute and sweet. I know this book involves cheating (a lot of it) which would make some people feel uncomfortable but it honestly didn't bother me. I admired how Ridge was respectful to Maggie. I loved how Ridge would communicate with Sydney through texts and facebook and by the flickering of lights. I love how Ridge explained to her how he can "hear" the music and how he plays guitar. I really loved some of the side characters too like Warren who was absolutely hilarious most times, and also very caring and protective of Ridge, and Bennett who was the sweetest little brother to Ridge.
Also, I really liked how there were some intense plot twists that I really wasn't expecting! It made the book really intense and suspenseful which only added to my overall enjoyment of this novel. It literally read like a soap opera (but a good one.) I'm not sure where this book places in my love for Colleen Hoover books, but I think I love it just as much as Ugly Love which was my all time favorite form her. This book gave me so many feelings aksjdlakjs.
