Daisy Jones and the six.
~
My first read of April was marvelous to say the least. Daisy Jones and six is a fictional story about a band set in the mid sixties to late seventies, and packs a punch in every single chapter. This book is a piece of art, a book that speaks of love and loss, a strong force to be reckoned with. A book that reflects back on the iconic times of Rock and Roll.

The entire book has been narrated in the form of a conversation. The band members recall their lives back when they were famous, a band that nobody could ever forget. The conversations range from how the band started and how Daisy came to be a part of it. It speaks about drug abuse, alcoholism, sex and everything that comes with being in a band. From the very first page, I knew that I'd never forget this book. I lost track of time and before I knew I was reading the very last chapter. And the surprise at the very end left me stunned.
~
Knowing what actually happens in the music industry was such an important factor for me to keep reading. It was interesting and shocking at the same time to know the reality behind the lives of music stars. Though this was a work of fiction, it felt personal and intimate. The author talks about heartbreaks, sacrifices, love, helplessness, raw feelings, jealousy and every single emotion that a human is capable of experiencing. And the fact that this was a strong feminist read, made me love it even more. The female characters are fierce and strong. They are flawed and yet pick up the pieces with grace.

A must, powerful and an important read.
