Ace: What Asexuality Reveals about Desire, Society, and the Meaning of Sex by Angela Chen

5.0

I wish everyone would read this book. It offers not only an opportunity for us to better understand those around us, but ourselves. There is so much about romantic relationships and sexuality in our society that is expected and unquestioned, and it really does not serve us.

Everyone operating under the assumption that you're straight, sexually-inclined, and monogamous without asking more questions about any of these things can leave us unfulfilled and unexpressed in our relationships (not just romantic ones). I can only hope that we're moving towards a world where none of these is a given and the nuance and full spectrum is honored and celebrated in ourselves and others.
