The Gargoyle by Andrew Davidson

3.0

Bizarre, with some beautiful imagery and colourful writing. I'm a fan of the history, literature and religious references even if they become heavy handed. I enjoyed the Icelandic story the most and was surprisingly touched by it.

Marianne is written one dimensionally, the pace becomes halting at a few moments that really drag and the metaphors are in your face and come across YA like (which is fine, but pretentious when sprinkled between references to Dante)

But I really enjoyed it regardless of the flaws, a fun and touching romance.
