Just what I needed! A fun book that mixes a bit of history, mystery, and humor. I enjoyed reading about a Roman doctor assigned to the legions in Britain. Life on the edges of the Empire has its troubles, and Ruso, the doctor, tries his best to avoid them. However the doctor has a personal sense of honor and integrity which means he won’t be successful. Trying to understand her place is Tilla, a clever woman of a Britannia tribe who, unfortunately, is stolen into slavery. Ruso, being in the wrong place at the wrong time, unintentionally becomes her master. The two have much to learn from one another. And there’s the fun for us readers.
