The Handmaid's Tale (Graphic Novel) by Margaret Atwood
3.0
I appreciate the fact that this graphic novel stays true to the original story as much as possible and the illustrations by Renée Nault fit the dystopian story very well. However, I also find it hard for me to pick up the book version by Margaret Atwood: the story is dark, raw and full of oppression and violence - in short, it's just neither my style nor what I go for when it comes to reading. The similar case also goes with the books by Haruki Murakami. It's not because I hate their work but because of how it can trigger the anxiety in me. This is the thing with fiction genre: it can drag you to the hell of emotions and complex aspects of reality if you're not mentally strong enough. Perhaps I will dive into these global phenomenons in another time, another phrase in my life - just not this moment.
