Wow, this book exceeded my expectations. Hollow, the first book in this duet, was one of my favorite reads of the year & I was slightly anxious that I wouldn’t love it’s conclusion as much, simply because I didn’t WANT a conclusion and thank GOD (or as I like to call him, Crane) that is so not the case. All of the darkness, magic, lust, intrigue, and mystery that had me simultaneously blushing and staring open-mouthed at the screen/page, is present in this installment of Kat, Brom, and Crane’s story.

We’re finally able to watch this trio’s dynamic evolve as a unit. their connection, and lust, is practically tangible. we also see flashbacks from all three POV’s that give us more insight into Kat and Brom’s childhood and most importantly in my biased opinion, we see the moments in NY where Crane and Abe (Brom) first meet and begin their relationship.

Crane’s possessiveness is one of his defining features for me. This man knows what he wants. He’d do just about anything to have it and keep it, and what he wants is Kat AND Brom, coven, deities, and otherworldly forces be damned. This man has a darkness to him that even the lovely Kat can’t shine a light upon. He’s got demons, ghosts, and skeletons in his closet. But good GOD, is this man a s*x symbol. His mind is filthy and so hot. If he’s not threatening to spank Brom or Kat, he’s actually doing it. but make no mistake, he’s the only one who’ll lay a hand on either of them.

Kat’s such a lovely FMC. Watching her explore her sexual interests, her magic, her relationship with her family, and her place in the world that is Sleepy Hollow is endearing and impressive. She’s faced with obstacle after obstacle, and each time I expect her to yield, she surprises me. I love that she doesn’t fade away in the background behind her two strong, powerful and wild men. She’s as much, if not more, of a force to reckoned with.

My baby BROM, what a tortured soul, what a soft mushy man, hiding in a huge, brawny body. Brom’s reluctance to admit his attraction to Crane, his inability to resist that attraction. It gave me life. And when he finally does admit it? When he finally acknowledges that despite not wanting to, he loves them both as well. I would’ve shed a tear if I hadn’t been coming down from a heart racing smutty moment.

Karina’s character development just knocks my socks off every time.

The writing style, the pace, the ability to keep me guessing & on the edge of my seat at the mystery behind the school, coven, and horseman’s resurrection/possession was phenomenal. Karina doesn’t skimp on the horror, gore and suspense one bit. Legend provides the perfect blend of gothic, dark academia, paranormal, and smut without sacrificing any of the plot. And spice is THERE let me tell ya. M/F, MM, and MMF, each scene getting hotter, intenser, and building to the tension you’re feeling throughout the book.
