Sedated: How Modern Capitalism Created our Mental Health Crisis by James Davies
informative
reflective
slow-paced
4.0
The highest praise I can give to Sedated is that it took me a very long time to read. I kept getting so annoyed by the content ( TL:DR - It's Thatcher's fault. ) that I had to take breaks.
In fact, the only reason why it isn't rated even higher is that whilst Sedated is very well researched I feel like Davies lapsed into relying on anecdote one too many times. I understand the need to relate the situation to the human toll it enacts - especially when talking about how uncaring the system has become. I think that his case would be all the stronger if it could be always married with the broader statistical evidence.

Graphic: Mental illness
Moderate: Suicidal thoughts and Grief
