And it didn’t have to be the safe choice, because love was also more powerful than fear. It was the ultimate form of hope. It was stronger than curses.
it's not surprise for anyone, not even for myself, that I didn't like this book.
but it wasn't all awful, it's just that there were more bad things that good ones, at least that's how I feel.
I'm gonna start with the good ones before going into a rant:
–this book is truly like a fairytale. the ambience is pretty and all the constant magical elements truly makes you feel immersed. I bet even the book would smell like magic if it could. loved how magic was present at all times, all the legends, and it was funny to see how such a magical world still had myths and what they called "stories for children" as in things nobody actually believes in them.
– the book is easy to read. no dense moments, things are always in motion, no long ass chapters were nothing happens.
– I liked to have more povs beside Eva's. it's nice to see how other characters, specially these ones, think and their motivations, it add up a lot to the story in the general.
now the things I disliked:
– I fucking hate this fucking ass troupe of memory loss and amnesia it should be forgotten and forbidden in every single story why the fuck it's even a thing ?? it also took HALF of the book, Eva keep having these flashes of the past and we got stuck reading scenes we already know. honestly just cut out those 50 pages of things that I know happened, it was so tedious.
– so many.. undeveloped and unfinished plots?? so many hints about certain characters and then they're just forgotten to never be featured again ?? why did you even wrote about certain things if you're never going to actually develop them later or just never going to talk about it.
– and now that we're at it, the ending felt so.. abrupt?? that epilogue didn't add anything at all. so many questions unanswered, it lacked so much of everything, it almost felt anticlimactic. I'm not even asking for more chapters at least give me a proper answer and a glimpse the future or what's going to happen. ugh I hated it. there's pages and pages full of dumb things and you couldn't bother to actually write about something that matters.
– apollo as a character could've been fascinating but, just like this story in general, lacked. his monologues just didn't do justice to what his character was supposed to be, it was disappointing.
I think that's all, I don't have much more to say, at least it's over I guess.
