Persepolis Rising by James S.A. Corey
5.0
Okay so the time jump here in Persepolis Rising was so very abrupt and it took me a few chapters to really get into the rhythm of things again. I do have to say that I did love what that did to the plot and world-building, though!
I had no idea where the story was going to go here and I really loved the slow build into a new and very very tense conflict. There was something about human beings just going back to doing what human beings do because we're incapable of sitting down and having a good time that really captured my attention. The tension here and all the moving parts as the situation deteriorated was such a great thing to read about and I really loved the overall plot developed.
The multiple POV narrative also really worked for me, as usual! I do think that this time I had more fun with the shifts in perspective than I did in the previous novels. I was interested in every single character voice and how things were moving forward in their chapters and, together with the fast pace, I legit couldn't put this book down.
So many things had obviously changed here considering the time jump and, throughout the book, things got even more complicated. The ending was fantastic and I am still biting my nails a little bit considering the state of affairs during the final pages. I really cannot wait for the next couple of books so I can figure out how this is all going to come to an end :D
