I think this is my new favorite of all Anna-Marie McLemore’s books! As a former ballet dancer, I’ve always been obsessed with the story of the Red Shoes. This reimagining, which combines the feminist essence of the fairy tale with an actual historical event - a dancing plague in the early 1500s- is magical, triumphant, and very very gay. And right now? It’s everything my heart needs.
