6th of December 2017 - Victoria Palace Theatre, London.
A day has arrived that I thought might get cancelled but I'm here. Sitting in this theatre it feels like my whole body is vibrating with excitement. The house lights go dark, King George reminds you to turn off your phone and then those beats start and a man walks on to the stage. Before he even opens his mouth he exudes elegance and grace. He asks THE question and his voice is crystal clear and unlike any other I've heard. This is Aaron Burr, THAT is Giles Terera.

This book is incredible. Giles' observations are so profound and beautiful that I couldn't read this book fast enough. I love how parts of the show and Burr's life connected to his own. Within the pages Giles gets to know Aaron Burr and makes the character his own, I really enjoyed reading about his research process and wanting to know as much as humanly possible about him. I adored Giles' inquisitiveness, he asks questions about Burr's motivations in his life and what has led him to certain moments and interactions.
After the seeing the show during it's previews stages (which was meant to be after the official opening but due the theatre not being finished it ended up being one of the first handful of performances) it's insane to read about all the stuff going on behind the scenes, it was super interesting that one of his journal entries was from the day I went. The show was incredible and remains one of the best theatre experiences I've ever had, to know how much stress the cast and crew were under during those stages of previews is intense and yet it seemed so effortless on stage they are honestly superhuman.

Reading this was pure magic, getting to know the man behind Burr was a beautiful experience and I'm blown away by this great man's brain and his outlook on everything. This book would be ideal for aspiring actors, any-one who is a fan of Hamilton and maybe also American History fans for his incredible takes on Aaron Burr. Thoroughly loved this and will definitely be one I come back to in the future.
