"Fear of failure's the bitch that holds you back from success" -Pascale Lacelle, Curious Tides

Curious Tides was a mood, an incredibly written story with great character development and a fascinating magic system.

Curious Tides is told in dual perspective and parts, and with tidbits of the world building in between those sections. The chapters are quite lengthy; I would recommend setting a certain amount of time aside to read Curious Tides, whether that be with physically reading it or listening to the audiobook.

There are a lot of plotlines, and those plotlines come together in a genius and fascinating manner. There was a twist that I didn't see coming. There were some twists that I had an idea of, for when the truths behind certain events were revealed, were not too dissimilar to my predictions.

The magic system is incredibly detailed and there is some cost to the characters using magic.

The characters were really easy to read and root for. The characters had flaws, which played a crucial role in how the story played out. I did find some of the qualities of a few of the characters unlikable, that being said, I feel those qualities were crucial in the character development over the course of the story.

Curious Tides is on the older side of YA [ due to more detailed world building aspects ], and arguably could be considered NA. Curious Tides was a blend of genres.

I really enjoyed the aesthetics in my edition of Curious Tides. There was a lot of thought and care that went into the aesthetics and I really appreciate it.

Overall, I really enjoyed my reading experience of Curious Tides. I could see myself rereading this story and continuing the series.

I would recommend Curious Tides to other readers on the older side of YA and NA readers who enjoy fantasy books with a detailed magic system, mystery aspects, an academia setting, and several plotlines.
