This story is captivating. How can a story about three, young girls disappearing be written so beautifully?
I was immediately drawn in by Anna. She is damaged and broken. You can feel her pain through the words on the page. Anna is passionate about her job, but she allows her job to consume her at times. This affects her personal life.
Overall, this book was a solid 4.5 stars. I loved it. But what really pushed it over the edge, making it a 5 star, was Paula's author's note. One of the girls in the story, Polly Klass, goes missing at knife point in the middle of the night. Turns out, this story is true. Polly is a real little girl, who was taken, and who inspired this story. Unfortunately, Polly was not found alive. The Polly Klass Foundation was started in 1993 in honor of her. It has helped 10,000 families find missing kids.
