These Violent Delights is a successful retelling of Shakespeares Romeo and Juliet.
The book quickly picks up pace and keeps the reader intrigued with the mystery and plot twists.
The writing style was unique and fluent.
Juliette and Roma are both badass characters with a soft heart and I hope we get more of their romance in the second book, as well as more scenes with Benedikt and Marshall. There are also still some unanswered questions concerning Kathleen and Rosalind.
The setting in Shanghai in the 1920s was very interesting and unique as well as full of political intrigue.
The end of These Violent Delights leaves us in a very similar place as the beginning, and while I‘m excited for the sequel, I hope Chloe Gong finds a way to not let it get to repetitive.
