When I See You by Brynne Barnes

3.0

I think that this is one of those picture books that suffers from perspective. While I think that the intentions behind this were pure, it's not a tangible topic that younger readers will understand. It emphasizes the love a mother has for their child, but in an abstract way that was hard for my four year old to understand. This was written more for the enjoyment of the parent than for the child. When this is done, it causes the impact of the picture book to suffer. I personally still enjoyed the story, but I also was able to grasp the more abstract concepts of the narrative. The artwork was truly beautiful.
