There are some really wonderfully interesting takes on vampire myths in this book. She basically takes all of the bits of vampire mythology from around the world and make them make sense in one book together which is really fun. The story is quick and exciting. But it does feel to me like a first novel. The relationship developments are clunky, some of the word choices are clearly thesaurus related accidents, and overall it could have used a heavier hand in editing to make it a little more polished. But I think it's worth it for the interesting and unique setting and mythology.
