There's something just a little comforting  about mysteries featuring a doctor who treats vampires, demons, and all manner of undead and living.

Greta is presenting at a conference in Paris and gets caught up in the business of a pack of vampires who live under the city. These aren't her usual sort. These vampires have been making new vamps, mostly against their will...and we all know the havoc new vampires can wreak upon a city.... (if you don't, please see examples in popular lore like Twilight and Discovery of Witches.)

Greta seems to get herself into a lot of trouble, but it makes sense since her primary patients are the sort who are labeled trouble. She's not all powerful herself, but she uses her medical knowledge and general fortitude to persevere when the times get tough. She has a vast knowledge of creatures, which comes in handy, but otherwise she's your standard young woman doctor in the 21st century who's love interest is a vampire whose best days were the 19th century. I'm clearly going to continue to binge this series.
